Our Finished Basement Steps to Success
Step One
First we meet with clients, and get a feel for the best utilization of the finished basement space. Then we take laser measurements of the basement and create a 3D model of the finished basement to help customers visualize the area and make amendments to the plans before the walls are even up!
Step 2
After the 3D finished basement model is complete we then get all necessary permits from your local building department. We begin with the insulated subfloor installation, and continuous insulation on all exterior walls. This is to be as energy efficient as possible when it comes to heating and cooling the space. Now it is time for framing and all plumbing/electrical work. We take care of the scheduling all subcontractors with whom we have worked with for years to ensure the customer doesn’t have to lift a finger!
Step Three
With all the trades complete with rough in work, your finished basement is ready for further insulation. We use a premium mineral wool insulation in the ceiling which accomplishes 3 big tasks: 1st the mineral wool is a code compliant fire block material, 2nd the mineral wool helps to keep the basement heat from moving right through the ceiling into the 1st floor, and 3rd (the biggest reason) the insulation between the floor joists helps catch soundwaves before they make it to the 1st floor. Another trick we use to isolate the finished basement noise from the rest of the house is a floor muffling foam. This gets attached in-between ceiling framing and sheetrock to make certain the noise is contained in your finished basement.
Step 4
Now that the ceiling and all the walls are ready to be closed up, its time for sheetrock flooring doors and trim in your finished basement! This is when the space begins to feel like a finished product, we prefer to use a high quality luxury vinyl plank floor and only solid wood trim. Depending on style and budget we offer ornate, high level, trim work to set your finished basement apart from the rest!
Step Four
As soon as all final touchups and hardware installs are completed, we have the final inspection on the basement to bring an end to the permitting and construction process! Now we turn the space over to you, and you enjoy the space for years to come!
